Overview
Hangar 11 Burgers & Brews on 119-11 Metropolitan Ave, Kew Gardens, NY 11415, United States, is the kind of place that makes you feel at home the moment you walk in. Iβve visited a few times over the past year, and each time itβs been a mix of comfort, flavor, and a vibe thatβs perfect for casual hangouts. The space itself is cozy but modern, with a bar that gleams under warm lighting and booths that invite you to linger over a meal. Itβs a spot where you donβt just eat-you experience the atmosphere, the service, and the genuine care that goes into each burger and pint.
Their menu is impressively diverse for a diner that specializes in burgers and craft brews. On my first visit, I tried the Hangar 11 Classic Burger, topped with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and a house-made aioli. Each bite had a perfect balance of juicy meat and fresh toppings. I later sampled their barbecue bacon burger, which combined smoky sweetness with a tender patty-a flavor combo that had me taking notes like a food critic. For those who prefer plant-based options, they also serve a surprisingly satisfying vegetarian burger, proving they consider all kinds of diners.
The drink selection complements the food beautifully. Local craft beers are rotated frequently, and the staff are knowledgeable enough to recommend a brew that pairs well with your meal. On one occasion, I paired their IPA with the jalapeΓ±o burger, and the spicy kick balanced perfectly with the hoppy bitterness of the beer. For those who enjoy cocktails, the bartender crafts drinks that arenβt just poured-theyβre carefully thought out, showing attention to flavor layers and presentation.
One aspect that sets this diner apart is their commitment to quality and consistency. According to a survey by the National Restaurant Association, diners rank taste and atmosphere as two of the most important factors in choosing a restaurant. Hangar 11 Burgers & Brews clearly meets both. On multiple visits, Iβve noticed that the staff consistently check on diners without being intrusive, and the kitchen maintains high standards even during busy weekend nights. Itβs this kind of dedication that makes a casual visit feel like a special occasion.
From a broader perspective, the location in Kew Gardens is convenient and accessible, making it a neighborhood favorite. Parking can be tricky during peak hours, but nearby streets provide options. Many online reviews emphasize how this diner has become a local gathering point, where friends meet after work or families enjoy a relaxed weekend lunch. Itβs evident that Hangar 11 isnβt just selling burgers-itβs fostering community.
Another highlight is the way they handle seasonal specials and promotions. On one visit, they introduced a limited-time truffle burger that completely elevated the usual menu experience. Dishes like this show creativity and a willingness to experiment, which keeps regulars excited and attracts first-time visitors looking for something unique. The process behind these specials seems methodical, from sourcing ingredients to taste-testing, reflecting a professional approach that any culinary expert would appreciate.
Service is consistently friendly and informed, with servers able to suggest menu items based on your preferences. This kind of personalized attention enhances trust, as diners feel confident theyβll enjoy their meal. Even when it gets busy, the staff maintains a cheerful and attentive demeanor, which can be rare in casual dining spots.
Overall, Hangar 11 Burgers & Brews combines the warmth of a neighborhood diner with the creativity of a modern burger bar. From the perfectly cooked patties to the curated drinks and attentive service, every element is thoughtfully executed. Itβs the kind of place that makes you want to return, not just for the food, but for the entire experience-the comfort, the flavor, and the sense of being part of something special in Kew Gardens.

βMonday brunch is highly recommended! The brother bartenders provide excellent service, the food was spectacular, and the drinks were out of this world. β
I liked the decor here. The name and some of the decor, which include planes, is most likely a reference to Kew Gardens, being home to many Airline workers. The happy hour prices are good. The Coconut Shrimp was . The service was good. I wasn't a big fan of the music that was playing but I could deal with it. It was empty when I was there but the place had just opened a few minutes before I got there. Besides I don't mind it not being busy. I'm glad I checked the place out. I might or might not go back. The Coconut Shrimp might be worth another visit.
